Les verbes irréguliers ci-dessous sont les plus courants.
- Les verbes suivis d'un astérisque peuvent aussi prendre une forme régulière. Par exemple le verbe learn peut aussi avoir learned comme forme du prétérit et du participe passé.
- Attention, une forme identique ne signifie pas absence de différence ou de "conjugaison": le verbe read, par exemple, se prononce d'une manière différente au présent [ri:d] d'une part, et au prétérit et participe passé [red] d'autre part.
